The terrible devastation of our Gulf States area is uppermost on most of America's mind. Of course we Christians have our hearts filled with compassion and prayer for the people who have suffered so terribly. I wanted to address this in my news section and would have before now if I hadn't been so absorbed with my own small challenges, some upcoming surgeries and some chronic pain worsening lately.

My problems seem minute when compared to theirs. I can only imagine the suffering of the people who went through the ordeal of evacuation, deprivation, illness, injury, and now, fear about their future/s. I am blessed! And we must go on doing what we can to be a blessing to those in need.

With that in mind, I'd like to share an 'editorial' written by Marjorie Castleberry concerning the present situation from the after effects of the hurricane, Katrina. I thought her comments were most appropriate and encouraging.

The more I see the more the phrase 'utter destruction' seems to fit.

But, I was angry coming home yesterday when some commentator was so gloom and doom. Suddenly, this little voice within me said "Hold it!" "By no means can anyone discount the suffering, sometimes poor organization and response, but never discount the strength of a nation founded on God's principles and for a long time built on that foundation. Surely succeeding generations have used poor building materials and any big disaster may knock off the top of this building called America, but the strong foundation and the strong walls first built will be revealed and rebuilding will begin. The recovery will depend upon individual thinking and mind-set. As always before, the churches, the Christian people, with God's help, with their compassions and helps will encourage all and by example will lead in the picking up and going on.

Some things that happen in a moment take years to remedy. Things will not always be the same, but many will be better and some will be entirely new, but once again it will be proved that real life is not held within things, but in a body of flesh, blood and spirit.

Blessings on this beautiful, sunshiny day in Georgia,

Majorie Castleberry

Not all news is necessarily cheerful or even news that one wants to report. But sad news is a part of life. I write this to let all you faithful prayer warriors know that my brother, Ronny went home to be with Lord on May 27th.

After a long battle with cancer he left us for his eternal home in heaven. I will not say that he lost the fight, because he lives; he's just at a different address than where we thought he'd be after the cancer was gone.

Our heartfelt thanks go to all you who have prayed for the family during this past year. We appreciate your concern and love more than words can say!

The Lord had different plans for Ronny than we knew. He was a policeman most of his adult life and loved his work. Someone commented that he's probably up there 'patrolling' those streets of gold right now, making sure things are moving along smoothly, with that little mischievous grin of his. And he's probably adored by all the angels, because he was adored here on earth. Never have I known anyone who was loved so sincerely by so many. To know him was to love him, plain and simple!

Our hearts are broken but only for our own sorrow because Ronny is not with us at present and we miss him terribly. But we know he's in a better place and we'll join him someday. His presence is felt in our hearts and he'll always be with us in that way. Then, when we cross over that bridge we know he'll be standing by our Savior, Jesus, ready to greet us and we'll all get great big hugs like when he was here with us.

Please pray for Ronny's wife, Diana. She's a precious lady and loves Ronny dearly as he does her. As she said, that love is for an eternity. We know he's in heaven and we'll join him someday in God's time. But, it's so very hard to go through this and face every day without the presence of the one you've been married to for so many years. The Lord will keep her, and I'm told that time will make it a little easier to accept. But right now, she needs strength to help her through the grieving process. She and Ronny greatly appreciated all your prayers and loving concern during the past year. And I've just learned that Diana has some serious health issues herself now to deal with. So she needs some very special prayer.

I'll be preparing a special tribute page for my brother, Ronny very soon. I'll have it here in the Gallery Section and on my other site: Genelle's Christian Inspirations as well. Check back soon to visit that page.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you've been blessed by reading this newsletter. I'll be updating it periodically, so please drop in again soon.

May the Lord bless you and keep you in His Hands. Have a wonderful day!

Sincerely with Love in Jesus,

Genelle
